Nice long weekend in York
Nice long weekend in York. The hotel is a very traditional old building with a newer annex. Our room in the annex was a bit compact, but comfortable enough. Some problems with one of the keys loosing its coding which meant long walks back to reception. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good.

The actual building beautiful inside very grand resturaunt were you have meals ok for breakfast not right atmosphere for evening meals there were four mains that were not available on the menu when we dined and one not available on the entree menu and waited quite some time to be served as they were short staffed so slightly dissapionted

Beautiful Hotel
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Room was beautiful and very large with a very comfy bed. Pool and leisure facilities were really good but could be a bit busy with members and hotel guests. Breakfast was a buffet, well organised and tasty. All in all, a very nice night at The Principal

Beautiful old property which has its maintenance challenges but stale smoke smell in the room with poor standards of upkeep (paintwork, mould, bad wood work, tv that didn’t work) that made the stay not pleasant. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable
